Shital Mahajan skydives from paramotor sets national record

On the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, the gliding center of Hadapsar Pune celebrated by organising a rare feat. Shital Mahajan, Padmashree awardee skydiver successfully attempted skydiving from paramotor height of 5000ft AGL and set a national record. Paramotor pilot Rhone Menezes flew the paramotor to a height of 5000ft and from there Shital Mahajan performed from parachute and landed at Gliding Center in Hadapsar Pune.

Shital Mahajan, a Skydiver, and Padma Shri awardee in  2011. She comes from an ordinary family, an International player of India in the Skydiving sport (Parachute Jumping). She said, ‘It has always been my ardent ambition to do something for my country that will project the image of the Indian woman on a global platforum. Until 1st January 2022, I have achieved 18 National and 6 World records. She has completed skydiving over all 7 continents and has become the first woman in the world to do so. To recognize this achievement at the International level FAI – Federation of Aeronautical International has honored her with the Sabiha Gokcen Gold Medal. She is the first Indian woman in history to get this medal for India in Aero Sports.
