Pimpri, September 4, 2024 – All swimming pools in the city will be closed from September 7 to September 17, 2024, due to the temporary assignment of all managers, security officers, lifeguards, and other safety personnel from the Sports Department to Ganesh immersion sites. This information was provided by the Assistant Commissioner of the Sports Department, Pankaj Patil.

The municipal corporation has made comprehensive plans for the upcoming Ganesh Festival. Officers and staff have been assigned to immersion sites and collection centers across the regional offices. Around 640 vehicles will be deployed for idol collection and other tasks. There are approximately 85 immersion sites within the municipal limits, distributed across various regional offices: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H, with 15, 14, 5, 13, 12, 10, 6, and 10 sites respectively. The corporation will provide necessary facilities at these immersion sites, including the appointment of lifeguards to ensure safety.

Guidelines for Ganesh Idol Immersion:

Citizens are encouraged to perform the immersion of household Ganpati idols and Gauri idols at home or donate the idols. Ganesh Mandals are advised to prioritize the immersion of idols in artificial ponds near the mandap. On immersion days (1.5, 5, 7, 9, and 10 days), the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will provide decorated vehicles for the collection of idols and offerings in each regional office. These vehicles will be available at designated idol collection centers in each ward. Additionally, each immersion site will be equipped with two conveyor belts for smooth idol immersion, with more provided if necessary. The corporation will also release a route map for the decorated vehicles collecting idols in each ward. Citizens and Mandals are urged to donate their idols and cooperate by placing offerings in the designated vehicles. The idols collected by the corporation will be immersed in a proper and respectful manner.
