Tragedy on Pune-Bengaluru Highway: Bus Breaks Barrier, Falls Into Stream, Injuring 35
In a tragic mishap, a state transport bus lost control and fell down after breaking the road barrier. The accident occurred on the Pune-Bengaluru highway at Tandulwadi around 1.07 pm while the Dahivadi depot’s Dahivadi-Jotiba ST (State Transport) bus was headed towards Jotiba.
As per information, at Tandulwadi’s Gurav Bridge, the bus broke through the railing and plunged straight into the stream. 35 passengers have been injured in the accident while some are in critical condition. The injured have been admitted to CPR Hospital in Kolhapur, Krishna Hospital, and Prakash Memorial Hospital. It was remarked that only the passengers’ good fortune saved their lives.
The information of the accident was immediately given to the police. Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Islampur, Mangesh Chavan, along with Vikram Patil from Kurlap Police Station, officers from Kasegaon Police, and Shirala Police’s Jangam Station, arrived at the accident site. It was observed that one of the tires of the ST bus was detached due to the impact and was thrown aside.
