Vinod Kambli’s Struggles: Ex-Cricketer Faces Health Issues and Addiction Challenges
Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli’s health struggles and battle with addiction have once again come under the spotlight, sparking widespread concern among fans and the cricketing community.
At a recent memorial event for legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar, Kambli was seen holding onto his childhood friend and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar for support, struggling to maintain his balance. This moment was captured in a video that quickly went viral, raising questions about the ex-cricketer’s well-being.
Marcus Couto, a former first-class umpire, shed light on Kambli’s ongoing challenges. “He has severe, multiple health issues. There’s no point in him going for rehab—Kambli has already gone to rehab 14 times! Thrice we took him to a rehab in Vasai,” Couto revealed.
Kambli has also received support from Kapil Dev, another cricketing legend. While expressing empathy for Kambli’s situation, Kapil emphasized the need for the former batter to take proactive steps in his recovery.
Once hailed alongside Sachin Tendulkar as one of India’s most promising cricketing talents, Kambli’s career took a downward trajectory due to disciplinary issues and off-field challenges. His struggles with alcohol addiction have further distanced him from his peers and friends over the years.
The 51-year-old has also faced significant health setbacks, including a heart attack in 2013 and angioplasty in 2012 to treat arterial blockages. These incidents marked critical moments in his battle with declining health.
This is not the first time Kambli’s condition has made headlines. Earlier this year, a video surfaced showing him struggling to walk on the streets, which further highlighted his deteriorating state.
Fans and well-wishers continue to hope for Kambli’s recovery and urge him to take necessary measures to regain control of his health and life.
