Weather Report: Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Several Indian States Until July 16
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Goa. The alert indicates the possibility of significant precipitation and potential disruptions.
Heavy Rainfall Forecast:
In a press release dated July 12, the IMD forecasted heavy rainfall in Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Telangana until July 16. Andhra Pradesh is expected to experience downpours on Sunday and Monday.
IMD’s Social Media Update
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the IMD stated, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall spell likely over southwest Peninsular India and heavy rainfall over Northeast & adjoining east India during next five days.”
Regional Weather Predictions:
Southwest Peninsular India:Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.
Northeast and East India:Assam, Meghalaya, and Odisha will see wet spells until July 16. West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and Arunachal Pradesh will experience showers until tomorrow. Jharkhand is forecasted to have heavy showers during the day. Nagaland and Manipur will see heavy rainfall tomorrow and the day after.
Northwest and Central India:
- Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rain expected until July 16.
- Chhattisgarh: Rain expected until July 15.
- Madhya Pradesh: Rain expected until July 14.
- Himachal Pradesh: Rain expected on July 13.
- Rajasthan: Rain expected on July 16.
IMD’s Weather Bulletin:
The bulletin notes, “Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning very likely over Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan” over the next four days. It adds, “Isolated to scattered rainfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and West Rajasthan” during the same period.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts to ensure safety and preparedness during this period of heavy rainfall.
