Young Aspirant Preparing for Competitive Exams Dies in Pune Road Accident; Family Donates His Eyes
Pune: A 31-year-old youth preparing for competitive examinations tragically lost his life in a road accident near the Kavdi Pat toll plaza on the Pune-Solapur Highway late Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Samadhan Sambhaji Bhite, a native of Nir Nimbgaon village in Indapur taluka, Pune district. He was currently residing in the Mangalwar Peth area of Pune.
Samadhan, along with his friend Mayur Sunil Dongre (29), a police sub-inspector posted in Mumbai, had visited Sortapwadi in Haveli taluka to attend pre-wedding rituals of their friend, a Deputy Collector. According to police, the duo was returning to Pune on a two-wheeler after attending the Haldi ceremony when their bike crashed into a road divider near the Kavdi Pat toll plaza around 11:45 pm.
The impact of the accident left both men seriously injured. They were rushed to a hospital in Loni Kalbhor, where Samadhan succumbed to his injuries around 7 am on Saturday. Mayur is currently recovering and reported to be in stable condition.
Loni Kalbhor Police have launched an investigation into the incident. A post-mortem was conducted at Command Hospital in Wanavdi, after which Samadhan’s family donated his eyes—a gesture that moved many in the community.
Samadhan is survived by his parents and brother Akshay. Both siblings were enrolled at the Swa-Roopwardhinee study centre in Pune, working hard toward their dream of clearing competitive exams. Friends described Samadhan as a sincere student from a financially challenged background in Indapur.
His mortal remains were handed over to the family for final rites at their native village following the eye donation.
