PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is making preparations for the Ganesh festival, unlike mandals. They are reviewing the planning at the immersion ghat and ensuring facilities are provided to Ganesh mandals.

As per the information provided, the solid waste management department has instructed all regional offices to provide details on immersion tanks and idol donation centers for immersion. This year, the PMC will set up approximately 455 artificial tanks in different parts of the city since there are no mobile immersion tanks available. Precautions will be taken to prevent pollution of rivers and other natural water resources such as canals and wells through the immersion of idols.

The regional offices have been requested to increase the number of idol collection centers and artificial immersion tanks. The solid waste management department has asked for information from all regional offices regarding this matter. According to the administration, around 455 tanks can be arranged, and this number can be increased as necessary. Prior to Ganeshotsav, a meeting is held between the Ganesh Mandal and the Municipal Corporation.

During this meeting, workers presented their issues and demands. Municipal and police officials coordinated to find suitable solutions and another meeting is expected to take place next week.
