An 11-year-old boy from Indonesia has taken the internet by storm with a video of him dancing confidently on the tip of a racing boat. Rayyan Arkan Dikha’s unique performance has not only grabbed attention across the world but also pushed the term “aura farming” into mainstream pop culture. From footballers to Formula 1 drivers, celebrities everywhere are imitating his bold moves.

‘Aura farming’ is a phrase that has gained popularity on social media to describe someone who consistently looks cool or stylish, building up their confidence and aura. The slang use of the word “aura” refers to a person’s charisma or standout personality, particularly when they do something impressive.

On social media, people are said to gain or lose aura points depending on their actions, something cool earns them points, while something embarrassing might make them lose it. The phrase has been applied to anime characters, celebrities, and now, most famously, to Rayyan himself.

Dressed in traditional black attire and sunglasses, Rayyan is seen dancing with complete ease at the front of a long, narrow canoe. In the viral clip, he blows kisses to the sides before breaking into swag-filled dance steps, all while the boat speeds through water.

The video was filmed during Indonesia’s national Pacu Jalur boat race, a cultural festival with centuries-old roots. Rayyan plays the role of the Tukang Tari, the dancer at the boat’s tip whose performance energizes the rowers. He has been participating in the event since he was nine.

The video was first uploaded in January and has since taken over social media. Footballers from Paris Saint-Germain recreated the dance. Rayyan, who lives in Kuantan Singingi Regency, has become a star in his village. “Every time my friends see me, they say, ‘You’re viral,’” he said in an interview. Still shy and humble, he added that he doesn’t even know who most of the celebrities imitating him are.

Indonesia’s culture minister also praised Rayyan for his balance, confidence, and skill. Moreover, Rayyan has now been named a cultural ambassador in Riau and has appeared on national TV.
