2 Airlines Show Interest in Solapur-Pune, Solapur-Mumbai Routes
In a significant development, two airline companies have shown interest in launching air services on the Solapur-Pune and Solapur-Mumbai routes.
Recently, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) had invited tenders for these routes. As per information, the bids will be opened after February 21, according to senior MADC officials.
According to a report in Sakal, a meeting was held in Mumbai on Tuesday to discuss the matter. Officials confirmed that tenders were floated on January 31 at 1 PM.
The last date for submission is February 21. Only after opening the bids will it be clear which airline will operate the service.
Before the tendering process, MADC conducted a pre-bid meeting with interested airlines. Two companies have expressed their willingness to operate flights on these routes. However, officials declined to disclose their names.
MADC also provides Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to support airline companies. The selection will be based on reliability, safety, and service quality. The company with a good track record and minimal accident history will be preferred. The airline offering the most affordable fares with quality service will be chosen.
The air connectivity between Solapur, Pune, and Mumbai is expected to boost travel convenience for passengers. Further details will be available once the tenders are opened later this month.
