350 traffic wardens to be deployed to tackle traffic menace in Pune

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to appoint 350 traffic wardens to effectively manage traffic in the city. It is worthy to note that the city faces a lot of traffic issues due to the ongoing flyover, metro works etc.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vijaykumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Pune said, “The Pune traffic police department already has a strength of 400 traffic wardens. However, due to the ever-increasing traffic in the city, this number wasn’t sufficient. So, the PMC has agreed to give 350 more traffic wardens. So, we would have a total strength of 750 traffic wardens. These wardens will be deployed at various parts of the city to effectively tackle these issues.”

The traffic wardens would be deployed at various busy streets and places of Pune such as Nagar road, Solapur road, Satara road, Ganeshkhind road, Sinhagad road, Karve road, Paud road and many more.In the last few years, traffic congestion has caused several inconveniences to not just the local residents but also to patients needing emergency care. Incidents of traffic congestion have been reported across many areas in Pune.
