6 lakh MSEDCL consumers sent photographs of meter reading in five months to the firm

Ever since the lockdown was announced several services were shut. One of them was the meter reading of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited ‘s meter reading which was also halted. The work was stopped for about three months since the complete lockdown was imposed.
During this period, MSEDCL under the guidance of energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut had appealed to the consumers to send photographs of the meter reading. This was for the first time that this initiative was held and in the last five months, over 6 lakh 9 thousand 905 consumers sent their photographs of electricity meters.

Out of 6 lakh, a total of 4 lakh 45 thousand 300 consumers were from Pune district. While Only in the month of August 89,494 consumers sent their meter readings by photographs.
Seeing the overwhelming response, energy Minister has asked to continue the service and also extended the period of sending the reading from 24 hours to five days.

In April 74590, May 105173, June 74314, July 101731 and August 74314 consumers sent their reading by mobile app and through the website, www.mahadiscom.in
In the last five months Pune city – 235417, Pimpri Chinchwad city – 119590 and Pune rural 90295 sent their readings to the power utility firm.
MSEDCL takes photographs of the meter readings between 1-25 on any one day. Also one day prior to the message which the consumers receive they get a message to send the meter reading. Consumers can now send the reading within next five days of kWh reading and send through mobile app or website.
Ankush Make, Pune regional director , MSSDCL informed that consumers need to login and register with their bill numbers to send the photographs through website. There are several other schemes, bill verification which can be done online. Consumers should take benefit of the online facility.
