Pune, April 21: The Women and Child Development Department has set a target to distribute 4,000 “Pink E-Rickshaws” to women in Pune district. So far, 3,230 applications have been received from interested women between the ages of 20 and 50. Out of these, 1,726 beneficiaries have been approved by a committee formed under the chairmanship of the District Collector.  

In the first phase, 60 approved women beneficiaries will receive Pink E-Rickshaws from Kinetic Green Company. 

The distribution ceremony will take place on April 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the College of Agriculture, Shivajinagar, Pune. The e-rickshaws will be handed over by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The event will also be attended by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Meghna Sakore Bordikar, Department Secretary Dr. Anupkumar Yadav, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Women and Child Development Commissioner Nayana Gunde, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, and Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil.

This initiative by the Women and Child Development Department aims to promote employment for women and girls in eight districts. The scheme focuses on their economic and social rehabilitation, making them self-reliant and empowered. 

It also seeks to ensure safe travel for women and girls by providing financial assistance and support services to help them purchase and operate Pink E-Rickshaws in urban areas.
