72-Year-Old Ukrainian Man Marries 27-Year-Old Woman in Traditional Hindu Ceremony in Jodhpur
Jodhpur: In a unique cross-cultural wedding, a 72-year-old Ukrainian man, Stanislav, tied the knot with 27-year-old Anhelina in a traditional Hindu ceremony at Jodhpur’s Khas Bagh.
The couple, who had been living together in Ukraine for three to four years, chose to formalise their relationship in India after being inspired by Hindu rituals during their visit.
The groom arrived on horseback, dressed in a royal sherwani, saffron turban, and jeweled plume, and was welcomed with a tika ceremony. The celebrations included varmala, seven rounds around the sacred fire, chanting of Vedic mantras, and rituals such as applying sindoor and tying the mangalsutra.
Both dressed in Indian attire, the couple fully embraced the customs and even danced to traditional music. According to wedding coordinators, Anhelina was especially keen on observing every ritual with authenticity.
Jodhpur, with its regal forts, palaces, and cultural charm, has become a popular wedding destination for foreigners. The city earlier hosted celebrity weddings like Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s nuptials at Umaid Bhawan Palace.
This Ukrainian couple’s marriage, steeped in Vedic traditions, is seen as another example of Rajasthan’s growing appeal as a hub for cross-cultural weddings.
