Excessive Bleeding from Abortion Pills Given By husband Claims Life Of WifeÂ
Pune: A tragic incident has shaken Moi village in Khed taluka, where a 27-year-old woman died due to excessive bleeding after being forced to take abortion pills by her husband.
The victim’s husband, Shivraj Mannappa Rathod (31), has been arrested by Mahalunge MIDC Police in connection with the incident. According to police reports, Shivraj had been physically and mentally torturing his wife throughout their marriage.
The victim’s brother, Sachin Dharmanayak Chavan (21), filed a complaint alleging that Shivraj had been abusive and controlling. When Shivraj discovered his wife was two months pregnant, he gave her abortion pills without medical supervision, leading to severe bleeding and ultimately, her death on September 5.
Police is investigating the case. “We are investigating Shivraj’s role in the incident and charges will be filed accordingly,” said Jaybhaye.
The incident highlights the alarming consequences of unsafe abortions and domestic violence. The victim’s family has demanded justice, and authorities have assured swift action.
Shivraj is currently under investigation for abduction, torture, and culpable homicide. The case serves as a stark reminder of the need for stricter laws and awareness campaigns to prevent such tragedies.
