Fans of the hit web series ‘Mirzapur’ are in for a treat as Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu prepare to make a grand comeback on the big screen.

Months after the release of Mirzapur Season 3, the creators have officially announced the next installment, Mirzapur: The Film. The news broke when Prime Video India shared a teaser video on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, featuring some of the franchise’s iconic characters including Pankaj Tripathi (Kaleen Bhaiya), Ali Fazal (Guddu Pandit), Abhishek Banerjee, and a surprise appearance from Divyenndu, who portrayed the fan-favorite character Munna Tripathi.

In the teaser, Divyenndu, whose character was killed off in Season 2, hints at his mysterious comeback with a cheeky line in Hindi, “I’m a Hindi film hero. A Hindi film is best enjoyed in a theatre. Need I remind you, I’m immortal.” This playful comment has left fans speculating about how his character could return, as the excitement builds for the new cinematic chapter.

The film is scheduled for a 2026 release, and will bring back beloved characters including Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu, and Munna, alongside Abhishek Banerjee’s compounder role. Following its nationwide theatrical release, the movie will be available for streaming to Prime members in India and over 240 countries and territories approximately eight weeks after hitting theatres.

Created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film will be a production of Excel Entertainment, the same studio that delivered the previous successful seasons. Producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar expressed their enthusiasm in a recent statement, highlighting the journey of the Mirzapur franchise from a cult web series to a big-screen spectacle. They believe the film adaptation will offer a new level of depth and engagement, stating:

“Over the course of three successful seasons, this acclaimed franchise has struck all the right chords with fans through its powerful storytelling and memorable characters… We are stoked to collaborate with Prime Video, once again, and look forward to delivering a grand cinematic experience, which will truly live up to the expectations of our dedicated fanbase.”

Mirzapur debuted in November 2018, followed by a second season in October 2020. The third season was released in July 2024, continuing to capture audiences with its intense storytelling, raw dialogue, and complex characters. The decision to bring the narrative to cinemas is expected to expand its reach, turning what was once a streaming phenomenon into a potential blockbuster.

Fans are eagerly awaiting to see if the film will answer lingering questions, explore new plot twists, and provide the same gritty drama that has made Mirzapur one of India’s most beloved crime thrillers.
