The threat of hoax bomb alerts persisted on Tuesday, impacting more than 100 flights following new warnings. According to sources, Air India encountered around 36 threat notifications, whereas IndiGo and Vistara experienced approximately 35 and 32 threats, respectively, on that day.

The hoax bomb menace doesn’t seem to end for the airline industry. As per the latest news, Tuesday more than 100 such calls were reported.

Bomb threats targeting IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara flights persist, with more than 400 false calls reported in the past two weeks.

As reported by the news agency PTI, multiple Indian airlines faced bomb threats affecting over 100 flights on Tuesday. In the last 16 days, more than 510 domestic and international flights have been subjected to similar threats, all of which were subsequently identified as false alarms. The majority of these threats were conveyed via social media channels.

Mumbai police have commenced legal action against an unidentified person following bomb threats directed at three airlines via their X handle on Monday. Authorities have confirmed that the threats made against IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara were determined to be false.

In October alone, the police have registered 14 FIRs concerning bomb threats to airlines, with two threats reported on that particular day.

On October 29, 2024, several Air India flights faced security threats communicated via social media. In accordance with established protocols, the appropriate authorities were promptly notified, and all security measures were rigorously followed, as directed by the regulatory bodies, according to a spokesperson for Air India.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation is exploring legislative options to tackle the problem of false bomb threats directed at airlines. On Sunday, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu revealed that the government is contemplating various measures, such as placing offenders on a no-fly list, to prevent those who issue false bomb threats from traveling by air.
