The prepaid rickshaw booth at Pune Station, operated by Rikshamitra, will cease operations from 6 PM on November 1, 2024, leading to significant inconvenience for travelers, especially during the busy Diwali period.

The booth, which was launched to curb overcharging by unauthorized rickshaw drivers, has served over 28,000 passengers in the past 100 days, saving passengers an estimated 4.4 million rupees in fares. However, since the agreement with Pune’s traffic DCP and Passenger Service Association expired on October 22, 2024, and has yet to be renewed, services are being temporarily halted until further notice.

The booth initiative, praised by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Minister Chandrakant Patil, and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, received vital support from railway officials and was appreciated by commuters for its transparency and service.
