Navi Mumbai Airport to Begin Domestic Flights in April, Third Airport Proposed Near Vadhvan Port
The new airport will feature advanced facilities to accommodate millions of passengers annually.
The Adani Group’s Navi Mumbai Airport, built to handle a significant increase in air traffic, is on track to start operations in the first half of 2025, according to Adani Group CFO Jugeshinder “Robbie” Singh. This update was announced during the company’s recent quarterly and half-yearly financial report, which also highlighted several expansions in the group’s aviation sector.
The airport is designed with a 3,700-meter runway, modern passenger terminals, and cutting-edge air traffic control systems. Initially, Terminal 1 alone is expected to manage up to 20 million passengers annually, with a total projected capacity of 90 million passengers per year upon full expansion. Earlier this month, the airport reached a milestone by successfully accommodating an Indian Air Force aircraft on its runway, marking a key achievement in its operational readiness.
In addition to the Navi Mumbai Airport, Adani Airports has expanded its network across India by adding six new routes, six airlines, and 13 flights, now operating a total of seven airports. Adani Airport Holdings, a subsidiary formed in 2019, oversees airports in cities such as Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, covering 25% of India’s passenger traffic and 33% of air cargo.
Adani Enterprises also shared strong financial results, reporting a 664% increase in net profit to ₹1,741 crore for the July-September quarter, with cumulative net profits for the first two quarters up by 254% at ₹3,196 crore. The total income for the July-September quarter rose by 15% to ₹23,196 crore, while half-yearly EBITDA reached an all-time high of ₹8,654 crore, reflecting robust performance in the group’s emerging infrastructure sectors.
