Aftab Poonawala, who is accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar in May 2022, is said to be on the hit list of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to sources from the Mumbai Police.

This information came to light during the investigation into the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, an incident for which the Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility.

As a result of this revelation, the administration at Tihar Jail, where Poonawala is currently incarcerated, has reportedly increased security measures for him. However, jail officials mentioned that they have not received any official notification from the Mumbai Police regarding this matter.

In May 2022, Aftab Poonawala killed Shraddha Walkar, who was 27 years old, by strangling her and then cutting her body into 35 pieces in Delhi. The accused supposedly committed the crime because Shraddha was pressuring him to marry her. This shocking incident had a profound impact across the country.

Poonawala allegedly kept Shraddha’s body parts in a refrigerator for about 20 days before scattering them at different spots in Delhi’s Mehrauli forest. The case came to public attention in November 2022 when Shraddha’s father reported her missing.

According to information from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Bishnoi gang has marked several individuals for their criminal operations, motivated by revenge and competition. Among their targets is Bollywood star Salman Khan, whom Bishnoi wants to avenge for the 1998 blackbuck killing.

Others on the gang’s hit list include Shaganpreet Singh, the manager of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was killed by the Bishnoi gang. Additionally, Bishnoi is keeping an eye on gangster Kaushal Chaudhary, currently held in Gurugram, and rival gangster Amit Dagar, as he aims to eliminate his adversaries.

The Bishnoi gang, with an extensive network of over 700 shooters across 11 states, has been likened to the criminal empire of Dawood Ibrahim. While Lawrence Bishnoi remains incarcerated in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati jail, the syndicate is now led by his brother Anmol Bishnoi, and another notorious gangster, Goldy Brar.
