Pune Police Locate Missing Toddler In Four Hours With Help From Alert Citizen

In a commendable effort, Pune Police located a missing three-year-old boy from Wagholi within just four hours, thanks to the vigilance of a local woman and swift police action.
Manisha Chetan Sonar spotted the child near Nikhar Ladies Shop on BAIF Road, Wagholi. Realizing the boy appeared to be alone, she tried to locate his guardians. When her efforts proved unsuccessful, she immediately informed Crime Branch officers Pratiksha Pansare and Sachin Pawar, who escalated the matter to Senior Police Inspector Wahid Pathan.
The police promptly disseminated the boy’s photograph on social media and launched a search operation across nearby societies, labor settlements, and areas along Domkhel Road, BAIF Road, and Dattavihar. During the search, they discovered a report of a missing child from Akshay Sanskruti Society.
The team visited the society, showed the child’s photograph to residents, and the boy’s mother recognized her son. Overcome with emotion, she thanked the police for their prompt action.
The operation was part of Mission Muskaan, an initiative to locate missing women and children. The team led by Senior Inspector Wahid Pathan and comprising Assistant Inspector Madan Kamble, Sub-Inspectors Ramkrishna Dalvi and Ramesh Memane, and officers Balasaheb Sakte, Suhas Tambekar, Kanifnath Karkhele, and Kirti Mandle successfully reunited the child with his family.
This swift and coordinated effort underscores the importance of community vigilance and proactive policing in ensuring public safety.
