35-Year-Old Woman Stabbed Multiple Times in Pune by Lover Over Affair Dispute
A 35-year-old woman, who served as the chairperson of a co-operative credit society in Indapur taluka of Pune district, was tragically murdered on Wednesday evening, allegedly by a man with whom she was having an extramarital affair, according to the Pune Rural police. The 25-year-old suspect, who fled the scene after repeatedly stabbing her, later turned himself in at the Indapur police station.
The victim has been identified as Sunita Shende, a resident of Nimgaon Ketaki village, located about 140 km from Pune city. The accused is Dnyaneshwar Baban Raskar, who lives in Surwad village within the same taluka. According to a police officer, the pair had been involved in a dispute regarding their relationship, which appears to have led to the murder.
The suspect reportedly owns a mobile phone shop, while Sunita was the chairperson of the Janai Laxmi Cooperative Credit Society in Nimgaon Ketaki. An FIR has been filed by her husband, Dadarao Shende, who is 37 years old and runs an automobile dealership in the area.
The complainant got home from work on Wednesday at around 8:15 PM and discovered that Sunita was missing. Family members informed him that she had left while talking on her phone some time earlier. He began searching for her along the Nimgaon Ketaki Sarafwadi road and soon heard his wife’s screams coming from a tin shed. When he shone his flashlight in that direction, he saw Raskar attacking her with a sharp knife. As Shende rushed to help her, Raskar escaped on his motorcycle, according to the officer.
Upon hearing Sunita’s screams, local villagers and her family members hurried to the scene. Sunita was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. The accused had caused multiple injuries to her head, abdomen, and chest. A little later, Raskar went to the police station and turned himself in, after which he was arrested, the officer added.
