A tragic stampede at the premiere of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa-2: The Rule at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her son, Sritej, critically injured. The incident occurred late Wednesday night as a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor.

Revathi’s husband, Mogadampalli Bhaskar, recounted the heartbreaking incident. “Our son, Tej, is a huge fan of Allu Arjun. Everyone calls him ‘Pushpa.’ We came to the theatre because of him,” he said. Bhaskar had taken his wife and two children, Sritej and Sanvi, to the event.

When the crowd surged as Allu Arjun arrived, chaos erupted. Bhaskar, who was with his daughter, Sanvi, got separated from Revathi and Sritej. During the stampede, Revathi sustained fatal injuries while trying to shield her son, who collapsed due to suffocation.

Sritej was revived with CPR by police and rushed to the hospital, where his condition remains critical. “The fans were manageable initially, but the situation spiraled out of control when the actor arrived,” Bhaskar explained, demanding action against the theatre management.

Revathi’s death has left Bhaskar, a liver transplant recipient still recovering from surgery, devastated. “She donated her liver, gave me life, and now she’s gone,” he said.

Following the tragedy, Hyderabad Police filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and Sandhya Theatre’s management. The charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, confirmed that the case is under investigation.

The incident has sparked calls for stricter crowd control measures at high-profile events.
