Bengaluru to goa: Observations from a road trip
Traveling by road from Bengaluru to Goa can be a truly captivating experience. Here’s a recount of one such experience.
An online post of a family’s journey from Bengaluru to Goa has gone viral. Here are the details of the mesmerizing journey.
The post by ‘BHPian Game_of_Roads’ says that the family began early in the morning from Bangalore.
The roads leading to Tumkur are in poor condition, characterized by patches and potholes. The quality of the highway improves significantly only after passing the Santoor soap factory, which is located beyond Tumkur. Even during the early hours, the 80 km stretch from the CBD area makes it difficult to maintain a steady pace and cover distances efficiently. Additionally, this route experiences heavier truck traffic compared to other highways.
On the other hand, the Tumkur-Hubli bypass is well-maintained, allowing for higher speeds and a more pleasant journey.
The journey to Yellapur is smooth, but the stretch from Yellapur to Ankola can be quite frustrating. The road for about 30-40 km after Yellapur is significantly damaged, featuring unpredictable potholes and rough patches that can jolt your vehicle all the way to Ankola.
However, this route is better than the other commonly seen route. The user is talking about the Dharwad – Anmod route.
He further adds that if you’re driving a Fortuner or a rugged SUV like the Thar, Jimny, or Compass, you can navigate the rough spots with ease. For other vehicles, though, the poor road conditions will definitely slow you down and add to the annoyance.
The journey from Karwar to South Goa was fairly ordinary, with the exception of the speed limits on the Goa side set at 70 for cars. Many drivers adhered to this limit, even on the well-maintained two-lane roads. I also noticed two groups of police officers using speed guns to enforce these regulations.
