Allu Arjun Granted Interim Bail in Pushpa 2 Fan Death Case; HC Affirms Right to Life and Liberty

The Telangana High Court has granted interim bail to actor Allu Arjun in connection with the stampede incident at the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The court emphasized the actor’s right to life and liberty while hearing the case.
The incident took place on December 4 at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a large crowd had gathered to see the actor. A stampede-like situation ensued, leading to the tragic death of a woman. Her son, who was also injured, is currently recovering in a hospital.
Following the incident, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management at the Chikkadpally police station under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint was lodged by the family of the deceased woman.
On Friday, Allu Arjun was arrested by Hyderabad Police and subsequently filed a plea in the High Court to quash the FIR against him. The High Court granted him interim bail, allowing him time to explore further legal remedies. The court remarked, “We will grant interim bail for a certain period, and let them avail appropriate remedies meanwhile,” as quoted by Bar and Bench.
In response to the tragedy, the actor announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to the family of the deceased. However, in a surprising development, the victim’s husband later stated that he planned to withdraw the complaint, as he did not hold the actor responsible for the incident.
The case remains under investigation.
