Pune Police Arrested 16-Year-Old for Allegedly Coercing Minor into Sexual Relationship
Pune: A 16-year-old boy from Pune’s Chandannagar area has been arrested for allegedly impregnating a 14-year-old girl. The incidents reportedly occurred between September 2022 and November 2024, under the pretext of marriage.
According to the police, the accused had promised to marry the minor girl, which led to her engaging in a physical relationship with him. The girl’s mother discovered her daughter’s pregnancy and filed a complaint with the police, leading to the boy’s arrest.
Upon questioning, the girl revealed that she had been in a physical relationship with the boy multiple times during the specified period. The police have charged the accused under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Both minors reside in the same locality, and the police are continuing their investigation into the matter. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of minors in the area.
The POCSO Act is a law enacted to protect children from sexual offenses. It defines and prescribes punishment for various offenses, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, and pornography.
In this case, the accused has been charged under the POCSO Act for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor girl. The police are investigating the matter, and the accused will face trial for his alleged crimes.
