Maharashtra: RTE Admission Process Begins, Aims to Complete by June-July

Maharashtra: RTE Admission Process For Private Schools Begins January 14, Over 1 Lakh Seats Available
The Right to Education (RTE) admission process for the academic year 2025-26 has commenced, with the school registration process starting from December 18. According to the state education department, the school registration process will take approximately three weeks, followed by student registration in January 2025.
The RTE admission process is implemented online for students from reserved categories and economically weaker sections. Under the RTE Act, 25% of seats are reserved in private English-medium schools for these students. Sharad Gosavi, Director of the Directorate of Primary Education, stated that the plan is to announce the list of selected students in March and complete the admission process by June-July.
This timeline is a significant improvement from previous years, as the admission process is expected to be completed by June-July, allowing students admitted under RTE to begin their classes on time. The RTE 25% admission process pre-preparation workshop for the academic year 2025-26 was held on December 15, and the period for completing the final admission process has been extended from April 10 to March 10.
The state education department is hopeful that the RTE admission process will be completed smoothly and within the stipulated timeline. With the online admission process and the extended timeline, the department aims to provide a hassle-free experience for students and parents.
