The photo he provided indicates that Uber fares for the same pickup location, destination, and time differed. On an Android device, the fare was Rs 290.79, whereas on an iPhone, it was Rs 342.47.
The post has gone viral and Uber has issued a response. “ “Hi there, multiple differences in these two rides impact the prices. The pick-up point, ETA, and drop-off point on these requests vary, which will cause different fares. Uber does not personalize trip pricing based on a rider’s cell phone manufacturer,” says Uber.
Netizens also reacted to the post. “Yes, that happens with me too. Sometimes the difference is not much but it can even be more than Rs 30-50. Trust technology to play with your wallet.” “That’s true Uber charges more than OLA and in fact, Uber has dynamic prices.. That mean if u book a cab at certain price.. And there is a traffic which is not your heck… You will. End up paying more at finally billing… Which doesn’t happen in OLA,” says another comment.
