In a significant development, the Chief Conservator Officer, Praveen N R, has granted permission for the Equal Water Supply Scheme project, paving the way for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to complete its new water line development work. This move comes after months of pending permission with the Department of Forest.

Ashok Mehendale and Varun Kute, who visited the Chief Conservator Officer, expressed their gratitude and happiness over the development. With this permission, PMC officials can now complete the work stuck within the forest area at four points, covering approximately three kilometers in length.

However, there are still five pending obstacles on the Katraj-Kondhwa road, including two related to traffic police, one with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (MSED), and two with the PMC’s road permission department.

Despite these challenges, the PMC is optimistic about completing the phase five water supply work for the Mohammad Wadi area by February 2025. Trials are expected to run in March 2025, and citizens can look forward to a sufficient and purified water supply within the next few months.

This breakthrough is a testament to the kind cooperation between authorities and citizens, and it’s expected to continue in the future. The Equal Water Supply Scheme aims to provide equitable water distribution throughout the city, with approximately 75% of the project already completed.
