Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate Secures Possession Of 15 Acres Land In Wakad For Offices and Residences
Pimpri-Chinchwad, Dec 27, 2024: After nearly six years since its establishment on May 28, 2018, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has successfully secured 15 acres of land for the offices of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Circle 2, and associated facilities. This achievement addresses a long-standing issue of insufficient space for administrative operations, housing for police officers, and supporting infrastructure. Â
The initiative, spearheaded by Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey, began in December 2022 when he assumed office. Recognizing the need for dedicated space, Choubey identified a vacant plot under PMRDA’s jurisdiction in Wakad, near Kalewadi-Kaspate Vasti Road. On April 5, 2023, he proposed the allocation of this land for the Commissionerate to PMRDA and subsequently followed up with the Urban Development Department, Ministry of Maharashtra, and the Chief Minister’s Office.
Through consistent efforts, the proposal was approved, and ₹249.12 crore was allocated in the supplementary budget with the intervention of the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Maharashtra. Today, the Commissionerate has officially taken possession of the land.
Facilities to be Developed:Â Â
The 15-acre space will host the DCP Circle 2 office, offices for the Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics and Anti-Extortion units, the Traffic Department, and other key units. Additional amenities will include a multipurpose hall, cafeteria, jogging track, playground, and residences for senior officers, ranging from the Commissioner to Assistant Commissioners of Police.
The planning and design process for these facilities will commence immediately under the leadership of Commissioner Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahawarkar, Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, and other senior officers, including DCP Headquarters Vivek Patil, DCP Circle 2 Vishal Gaikwad, and DCP Circle 3 Dr. Shivaji Pawar.
This accomplishment reflects the concerted efforts of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Department to enhance operational efficiency and create a conducive working environment for officers.
