The Yerawada police have taken legal action against two pubs in the Kalyaninagar area for hosting New Year parties without obtaining prior permission. This is not the first time these establishments have faced police action, as they were also penalized last year for violating closure timings and other offenses.

According to Senior Inspector Ravindra Shelke of the Yerawada police, one of the pubs, located on South Avenue, was raided on Tuesday night after residents complained of loud noise. Upon investigation, police found a DJ playing loud music, with at least 60 customers present. The police immediately seized the music system and stopped the party, as the pub management had not obtained permission for the event.

A case was registered against the pub under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant. This pub was also sealed last year for repeatedly violating closure timings but resumed operations after a court order.

The police also registered a case against another pub on Kalyaninagar Road for hosting a party on December 27 without permission. The pub had hired performers from different countries and did not possess permission for playing music. This pub was previously penalized on October 28 last year for serving food and liquor beyond the 1.30 am closure deadline and remained shut for three months before resuming operations.
