A dramatic incident unfolded in Bhavdi village on Nagar Road, Pune, where an excise department officer was assaulted while conducting a crackdown on illegal liquor transportation. The officer, identified as Secondary Inspector Vishal Kadam, attempted to stop a tempo suspected of carrying illicit liquor. During the action, a car trailing the officer rammed into his bike, causing him to fall onto the road.

Taking advantage of the situation, the accused driver fled the scene with the tempo, which was laden with country-made liquor. The car driver also escaped under the cover of darkness, leaving the officer injured and stranded. The incident highlights the dangers faced by enforcement officials in dealing with illegal activities.

A case has been registered at the Wagholi police station against two unidentified suspects. Police Sub-Inspector Vaijnath Kedar is leading the investigation. Efforts are underway to track down the accused and recover the illegal liquor.
