PMRDA and MIDC come together to solve traffic issues in Hinjewadi

Maharashtra to Enforce 'No PUC, No Fuel' Rule to Combat Vehicular Pollution
Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) have decided to deal with the Hinjewadi traffic issue jointly. Soon a meeting will be held in this regard and issues like road planning, encroachment, and traffic management will be discussed.
It is worthy to note that the Hinjewadi IT hub has been facing severe traffic issues for a long time. Therefore, Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation have decided to join hands to resolve traffic issues in the concerned area. A meeting will be held soon in this regard to know the issues and take some concrete steps to resolve it.
Most of the Hinjewadi fell within the limits of MIDC. Therefore, the road work automatically becomes the responsibility of MIDC, however, some roads of Hinjewadi are also taken care of by the Public Works Department. This is the reason, MIDC and PMRDA have decided to work on Hinjewadi traffic issues jointly. After the meeting, the required measures to be taken will be informed to the local gram panchayat as well as the police department too.
Encroachment Drive:
Encroachment is the biggest issue for the commuters. MIDC has decided to work on it on an urgent basis. Some illegal constructions in Hinjewadi from Phase 1 to Marunji village have already been removed. The rest of the actions as per the planning will be implemented in due time.
Current traffic route:
As per the current situation, the traffic that goes from Pimpri Chinchwad to Hinjewadi basically passes through Wakad Chowk creating traffic jams. Along with this, Wakad Chowk to Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk, Hinjewadi Phase 1 and Phase 2, and the road from Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk to Maan face severe traffic, especially during peak hours.
Though many measures have been taken to resolve the traffic issues in this location, they were not proving to be enough. Henceforth, PMRDA and MIDC joined hands to resolve this huge problem. It is expected that the measures taken will solve the issue for commuters.
