Pune News: No Property Tax Hike In Pimpri-Chinchwad For 2025-26, Relief For Citizens
Pimpri-Chinchwad: The municipal corporation has announced that there will be no increase in property taxes for the 2025-26 financial year for residential, non-residential, industrial, mixed, and open land properties. The property tax rates will remain the same as the current fiscal year, providing relief to city residents. This decision comes after the last property tax hike, which took place in 2013-14. Therefore, for the 11th consecutive year, no property tax increase will be implemented.
As per the records of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, there are over 635,000 properties, both residential and non-residential, in the city. To increase property taxes, the proposal must be approved by the General Body before February 20. Accordingly, the tax collection department had presented a proposal to not increase the property tax to the General Body, which was approved.
For residential properties with a taxable value ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 12,000, the general tax rate is 13%, and for non-residential properties, it is 14%. For residential properties with a taxable value between Rs. 12,001 and Rs. 30,000, the general tax rate is 16%, and for non-residential properties, it is 17%. Properties with a taxable value above Rs. 30,000 are taxed at 24%. Other additional taxes include a 5% cleaning tax for residential properties and 6% for non-residential properties, a 2% fire tax for both residential and non-residential properties, and a 4% educational tax for residential properties and 5% for non-residential ones.
In addition, businesses such as malls, hotels, hospitals, and restaurants will benefit from a 2% special cleaning tax. Entertainment venues such as theatres, multiplexes, and events will be taxed with a range of Rs. 50 to Rs. 350 per performance. The city will continue to offer discounts for early and online payments, as well as for specific categories such as women, the disabled, freedom fighters, educational buildings, green buildings, and electric vehicle charging stations.
The survey for unregistered and additional properties outside the tax department is ongoing. Around 250,000 new properties have been identified, and once these properties are incorporated into the tax records, any future tax hikes will be considered, according to Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of Tax Assessment and Collection.
