Pune: Encroachment Threatens Undri’s Autedewadi Lake, Residents Seek PMC Intervention
Pune: The Autedewadi Lake (Undri Lake), located near Godrej Prana, Godrej Greens, and Tata Inora in Undri, is facing a severe threat due to encroachment and misuse by nearby construction activities. Despite being owned by the Zilla Parishad and currently managed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the lake is being filled with construction debris, with no clear demarcation to protect its boundaries.
Residents have raised concerns over unauthorized encroachments and the neglect of the lake, which remains dry and unmaintained for most of the year. They have urged PMC to take immediate action by properly marking the lake’s boundaries, installing cemented pillars, and transforming the area into a municipal park or garden.
With no recreational spaces in the vicinity, locals believe that developing the lake into a green zone will not only preserve its ecological value but also provide a much-needed public space for the community. They have called for swift intervention to prevent further degradation of this natural resource.
