Pune: Raj Bhavan Approves Land Transfer For Metro Line 3 Staircase
Pune, March 6, 2025 – The Raj Bhavan has approved the transfer of 263.78 square meters of land near the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for constructing a staircase for the Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) had initially submitted the proposal in November 2022.
With this approval, the PMRDA now possesses 100% of the required land, facilitating smooth project execution. Of the total land requirement, 99.94% had already been allocated to the Metro Concessionaire Company.

The 23.20 km-long metro line 3, being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, was approved by the government on February 9, 2018. The PMRDA subsequently signed a concession agreement with Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. Currently, 83% of the metro project is complete.
A PMRDA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, “On February 28, Raj Bhavan issued a letter, which we received on Monday. With this, all required land has been handed over to Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. As per the agreement, land acquisition had to be completed before construction began, and now, the Metro Concessionaire Company has all the necessary land for the project.”
With full land access secured, the construction of Metro Line 3 is set to progress without hindrance, bringing the project closer to completion.
