Pune News: Leopard Sighting at Pavana Dam Campsite Causes Panic
A leopard was spotted on a tree at the Ambegaon camping site near Pavana Dam in Maval taluka on Friday morning.
Before this, the leopard had attacked and injured a local resident, creating panic in the area. Tourists and locals are now in a state of fear.
The injured person has been identified as Balu Shinde, a resident of Shindgaon, Maval. Following the attack, forest officials and police were immediately informed, and a team was dispatched to the spot.
At present, the forest department is working to safely return it to the jungle. Since the area is popular among tourists, the presence of the leopard has raised safety concerns.
The administration has urged people to remain calm and avoid going near the animal. A forest department official stated, “We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the leopard is not harmed. A trained rescue team is working to send it safely back into the wild.”
Meanwhile, some tourists at the campsite have moved to safer locations. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are underway to return the leopard to the forest as soon as possible.
