Infosys Revises Attendance Policy: Employees Must Work from Office 10 Days a Month
Infosys has introduced a new attendance policy requiring employees to work from the office at least 10 days per month. This move aims to enhance in-office collaboration and productivity following a significant decline in office attendance post-pandemic.
To streamline attendance tracking, Infosys is implementing a mobile application. While the policy raises concerns about flexibility and work-life balance, the company emphasizes its commitment to fostering a strong workplace culture. Infosys is expected to assess the policy’s effectiveness and consider employee feedback for future adjustments.
According to The Economic Times, starting March 10, 2025, system-based interventions will be implemented to limit the number of work-from-home days employees can request. Department heads have already communicated that work-from-home flexibility will be restricted. An internal email reportedly stated:
“To support this, starting March 10, 2025, system interventions will be implemented to limit the number of work-from-home days that can be applied each month. These measures are designed to ensure compliance with the new hybrid work requirements while maintaining flexibility for employees.”
TCS Adopts a Different Strategy
Unlike Infosys, TCS has tied employees’ variable pay to a five-day office attendance policy, ensuring greater compliance. This divergence in approach highlights how IT firms are adjusting their return-to-office strategies amid economic concerns, workplace culture shifts, and issues like moonlighting.
Infosys initiated its return-to-office plan on November 20, 2023, by introducing “in-person collab” weeks, during which all employees had to work from the office for collaborative tasks. Meanwhile, Wipro has adopted a hybrid model requiring employees to be in the office three days a week while allowing 30 additional remote workdays per year for increased flexibility.
