Pune News: Residents Protest As Rajmata Jijau Sports Complex On Sus Road Turns Into A Dumping Ground
Rajmata Jijau Sports Complex (ITI Ground) at Sai Chowk, Sus Road, Pashan, is meant to be a sports ground, but it increasingly resembles a dumping ground. While local residents dispose of waste here, even the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been treating it as a landfill, dumping tree trimmings, construction debris, and road waste.
This ground is the only open space available for the youth and children of Sutarwadi, Pashan, and Someshwarwadi to play. Recently, local youths took the initiative to clean and level the ground at their own expense. However, PMC has once again turned it into a dumping site by discarding waste and debris.
Despite repeated complaints, the civic body has shown little seriousness in addressing the issue. Residents are frustrated with the inaction and demand immediate intervention.
A letter was written by a local resident, Sameer Uttarkar, to the Pune Municipal Corporation seeking immediate action. He urged PMC Pune to take this matter seriously, clean the ground immediately, and stop dumping waste here.
If the authorities fail to act, the same debris will be transported and dumped at the nearby health office or the PMC headquarters as a mark of protest.
