Maharashtra Government Schools to Follow CBSE Pattern from 2025, Marathi Textbooks to Be Introduced
The Maharashtra government has decided to implement the CBSE curriculum in all government schools across the state starting from the 2025-26 academic year. State Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced the decision on Thursday, confirming that CBSE textbooks will be available in Marathi by April 1. The Education Department has already issued instructions to state-run schools to transition to the new curriculum.
The move follows a query from BJP legislator Prasad Lad, who sought clarity on whether the Steering Committee had approved the CBSE curriculum, especially as Maharashtra is implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) for classes 3 to 12.
“The CBSE curriculum will be introduced from the 2025-26 academic session to enhance the quality of education in Maharashtra,” Bhuse stated.
This decision follows the recent approval of the State Curriculum Framework by the Steering Committee. It also aligns with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s vision for strengthening the education system. During a review meeting on the state’s education sector, Fadnavis emphasized the need for quality education and directed officials to ensure a smooth transition to the CBSE pattern in government schools.
