Survey for Purandar International Airport Land Acquisition to Begin on April 9
Pune: Purandar Airport Land Acquisition Accelerates; Compensation Rates Finalised For Seven VillagesÂ
Pune: The long-awaited Purandar International Airport project is set to take a significant step forward, with land acquisition surveys scheduled to commence on April 9. District Collector Jitendra Dudi has confirmed that the survey will be conducted using drones to ensure a thorough and efficient process.
The survey will cover villages where land acquisition is planned, marking an important phase in the development of this crucial infrastructure project. A high-powered meeting chaired by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) CEO P. Velrasu was held in Pune on Friday to assess the project’s progress, with a special focus on the upcoming land survey.
According to a statement from the District Information Officer (DIO), the airport is planned to span 2,832 hectares. The Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 4.8 crore for the survey, which will include a detailed assessment of the land, existing structures, and a crop survey. Villagers in the affected areas will be informed before the survey begins, and official notices will be issued to ensure transparency and community participation. The survey will proceed only after all necessary protocols are completed.
The meeting was attended by senior revenue officials, including Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Phulkundwar. Discussions covered key aspects such as the issuance of a Government Resolution, the methodology of the drone survey, and details regarding government and forest land involved in the acquisition process.
The Purandar airport project was initially approved during Devendra Fadnavis’s first term as Chief Minister in 2014. With Pune’s existing international airport reaching full capacity, the demand for a new international airport has become a pressing concern, particularly for the city’s industrial sector. The project has gained momentum since Fadnavis’s second term, with District Collector Dudi previously stating that the land acquisition process will be expedited.
