Pune News: Third Road Accident in a Week Raises Alarms Over Safety at Mohamadwadi Chowk
Pune: A speeding car crashed into the road divider at Mohamadwadi Chowk late Sunday night around 10:45 PM, causing a brief period of chaos and traffic congestion in the area. According to a local resident, there were three occupants in the vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
This is the third road accident in the Mohamadwadi–Undri stretch within a week, raising serious concerns among residents about the deteriorating road safety conditions.
Earlier this week, a morning walker tragically lost their life after being struck by a speeding car near Nyati Ebony. In another incident, two girls walking along Undri Marg sustained severe injuries when they were hit by a vehicle.
These recurring accidents have once again brought attention to the civic administration’s failure in maintaining basic infrastructure.
Poor road conditions, unregulated encroachments, inadequate street lighting, and lack of effective police patrolling have all contributed to making the area increasingly unsafe for both pedestrians and motorists.
Residents and local welfare groups have been consistently demanding action, but the lack of response from authorities continues to put lives at risk. The Mohamadwadi Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation has urged immediate intervention to prevent further mishaps.
