Pune News: Man Climbing Overhead Water Tank in Kondhwa Rescued by Fire Brigade
Pune: A 40-year-old man from Gokul Nagar was rescued by fire brigade personnel on Thursday afternoon after he climbed onto an overhead water tank in Kondhwa Budruk, causing panic among local residents.
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm near Bhagwa Chowk in Laxmi Nagar Lane No. 10. According to officials, the man had scaled the water tank of a building and was seen sitting at a dangerous height, posing a threat to his own life.
Concerned residents who noticed the situation initially tried to speak to him but were met with resistance. “When locals approached him, he retaliated with an iron rod and bamboo, making the situation more risky,” said Samir Shaikh, an official from the Pune Fire Brigade.
The fire brigade team arrived promptly at the scene and engaged the man in conversation, attempting to persuade him to come down safely. After nearly an hour of patient negotiation, the personnel managed to calm him and bring him down without any harm.
He was immediately handed over to Kondhwa Police Station for further inquiry. The reason behind the man’s extreme step remains unclear and is being investigated by the police.
Officials commended the timely response and efforts of the fire brigade team in safely resolving a potentially dangerous situation without any injuries.
