Heavy Rain Alert: Orange Warning Issued in Parts of Maharashtra; Showers Likely in Pune and Mumbai
Sudden downpours lashed Pune, bringing temporary relief from the scorching summer heat but also causing disruption in daily life. The city witnessed intense rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, marking an unseasonal weather change.
Due to the heavy showers, temperatures dropped noticeably, offering a much-needed break from the heat to Pune residents. On Saturday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C and a minimum of 20.4°C — both slightly below the normal.
According to the weather bulletin from the Pune Shivajinagar station, the maximum temperature was 2.6°C below normal, and the minimum was 2.2°C below normal. The city also received 11.2 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Humidity levels fluctuated significantly throughout the day, with relative humidity at 71% at 8:30 AM, dropping to 33% by 5:30 PM, just before the rain began.
If you’re planning outdoor activities this week, it’s advisable to keep an umbrella handy. According to the 7-day forecast, thunderstorms with rain are expected at least until May 14. Light rain or thunderstorm activity may continue afterward, with partly cloudy skies and intermittent showers likely on May 15 and 16.
