Pune: Over 200 Wagholi Residents Endure Unsafe Living Conditions
Residents of Mayuri Tarangan Society on Wagholi-Lohegaon Road continue to live in distress due to the absence of basic amenities, even seven years after taking possession of their homes. Despite housing over 200 residents across 80 flats in two wings and seven floors, the society lacks a functional lift, fire safety systems, reliable water supply, and proper sewage treatment facilities.
In a troubling incident, a portion of the lift room on the 7th floor recently collapsed at night. While no injuries were reported, the collapse raised serious concerns over safety and construction quality.

Daily Struggles of Residents
The builder handed over possession long ago, but lifts are still not operational. Fire safety equipment and electricity transformers are missing. Senior citizens and children suffer the most. Drainage chambers remain open, which will become a major problem during monsoon. The residents complained that the builder keeps making promises, but no actual work happens. The recent collapse of the lift room proves how poor and unsafe the construction is.
None of the promised facilities, like play areas or fire safety, have been delivered.
Promises and Delays
Residents stated that flat possession was granted in 2018, and the builder was given an extension till 2021 to complete the amenities. Now in 2025, those promises remain unfulfilled.
Residents Demand Accountability
The Wagholi Against Corruption Organization (WACO), representing the residents, has submitted a formal complaint to the builder demanding immediate action. The letter highlights:
- Completion of essential amenities including lifts, STP, WTP, internal roads, and electrical infrastructure.
- A detailed implementation timeline for the same.
- Submission of legal documents related to the project.
WACO and the residents have warned that if these issues are not addressed within seven days, they will initiate legal proceedings.
PMC Remains Unresponsive
Attempts to contact Pune Municipal Corporation officials for comment went unanswered.
The situation continues to expose the plight of homeowners who, despite investing in their dream homes, are left grappling with basic survival and safety issues.
