The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a short-term weather alert for several districts across Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and varying intensities of rainfall over the next 3 to 4 hours.

According to the IMD forecast:

  • Osmanabad, Solapur, Beed, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik, and Palghar are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and moderate rainfall, along with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph.
  • Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg may witness thunderstorms with lightning and moderate to intense rainfall, coupled with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph.
  • Parbhani, Latur, Nanded, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are expected to face thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate showers, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph.
  • Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon could see light spells of rain with thunderstorms and lightning, and winds reaching 40-50 kmph.

The IMD has urged residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions while stepping outdoors, as lightning and strong winds could pose safety risks.
