Currently, Pune Police operate a fleet of 959 official vehicles, including 514 four-wheelers and 445 two-wheelers. The city has 39 police stations, each equipped with CR Mobile and Beat Marshal vehicles that provide 24×7 patrolling to maintain peace, safety, and public order. In addition to regular policing, departments like the Traffic Branch, Crime Branch, Special Branch, CID, ATS, ACP, QRT, BDS, Economic Offences Wing, and SPU work round-the-clock to serve the city. These vehicles will be dedicated to the police stations falling under Pune Police Zone 5 jurisdiction.

With the creation of seven new police stations and the city’s rapid growth and increasing population, law enforcement duties have become more complex and demanding. Tasks such as maintaining law and order, providing escort and pilot services to VVIPs, effective patrolling, beat marshalling, court transfers of criminals, and inter-state crime investigations require a well-equipped and updated fleet.

Previously, nearly 670 outdated police vehicles were decommissioned and auctioned, creating a shortage of operational vehicles amidst expanding jurisdiction and responsibilities.

The addition of these new vehicles is expected to significantly enhance mobility and patrol efficiency across Pune’s urban landscape. The Motor Transport Department continues to address the growing vehicular needs of the police force in alignment with evolving urban challenges.

This CSR-backed contribution marks a meaningful collaboration between public agencies and private enterprises toward the goal of a safer and more responsive Pune.
