Start Your Day Right: Easy Tips for More Energy and Calm

As temperatures rise and daylight hours stretch longer, summer mornings offer a perfect chance to refresh daily routines. Poonam Avinash Pawar, Certified Marathon Coach at Fast&Up India, shares five easy and effective habits to help individuals start their day with more energy, calm, and focus.

1. Begin with a Moment of Stillness
Pawar recommends setting aside 5 to 10 minutes each morning for quiet reflection. Whether through mindful breathing, meditation, or journaling a few thoughts of gratitude, taking a pause before the day begins can bring mental clarity and emotional balance.

2. Stay Hydrated with Electrolytes
With the body losing more fluids and essential minerals like sodium and potassium in summer, proper hydration is key. “Start with a glass of room-temperature water,” suggests Pawar. “Adding lemon or a pinch of salt can help, or choose an electrolyte drink in an effervescent format for faster absorption and convenience.”

3. Eat a Protein-Rich Breakfast
A balanced breakfast supports long-lasting energy levels. Pawar recommends options such as smoothies, fresh fruits, oats, eggs, or Greek yogurt. “Protein keeps you full longer, supports muscle repair, and prevents energy crashes—especially important in hot weather,” she explains.

4. Rise with the Sun
Taking advantage of early daylight can help reset the body’s internal clock. Pawar encourages opening curtains or stepping outside for a few minutes of sunlight. “It’s a natural way to signal your brain to wake up, feel alert, and get moving,” she adds.

5. Move Your Body Gently
While a full workout isn’t necessary, Pawar says light movement can work wonders. Activities like stretching, yoga, or a short walk not only improve circulation but also boost mood. Exercising outdoors brings the added benefit of fresh air and vitamin D.

Pawar emphasizes that there’s no need to overhaul an entire routine. “Even trying just one or two of these practices can help shift your energy and mindset for the day,” she says. With just a few mindful steps, summer mornings can become a time of calm, clarity, and renewed energy.
