Pune, June 18, 2025:  A 57-year-old Warkari, identified as Narayan Godave from Ahergaon village in Madha taluka, Solapur district, tragically lost his life after being hit by a speeding crane on the Dehu-Alandi Road near Talwade on Wednesday morning.

The fatal incident occurred around 11:45 AM near Shelar Wasti. According to police, Godave was walking on foot toward Alandi as part of the annual Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi procession when the crane, approaching from behind at high speed, struck him violently.

Immediately after the accident, Chikhli police rushed the injured man to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri. Unfortunately, doctors declared him brought dead, as he had succumbed to his injuries before receiving any medical attention.

Police used a mobile phone recovered from the deceased to contact his family. His son, who resides in Mumbai, has been informed.

The crane driver has been taken into custody, and formal charges are being processed. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and responsibility.
