In a move aimed at enhancing weather monitoring and forecasting, the Maharashtra government has announced plans to set up automated weather stations (AWS) in all villages across the state

This initiative is expected to support agriculture, disaster management, and local planning by providing real-time weather data at the grassroots level.

The installation of AWS units in each village will help track temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, and other climatic conditions. This localized data will play a crucial role in alerting communities about adverse weather events, assisting farmers in crop planning, and supporting government agencies in responding to climate-related challenges.

Officials stated that the project is part of a broader strategy to strengthen climate resilience and improve decision-making based on scientific data.
