A serene day at a popular waterfall in Bihar’s Gaya district turned into a near-tragedy when six women were caught in a sudden and powerful gush of water at the Languriya hill waterfall. The incident, which took place on Sunday, was captured on video and has since gone viral, leaving viewers shaken and highlighting the unpredictable danger of nature, especially during the monsoon season.

In the video that has spread widely across social media platforms, the six women can be seen stranded amid rapidly flowing water, trapped on rocks with no easy escape route. One of them managed to cross over and cling to safety on a rock. Encouraged by her move, three others attempted to do the same but were overpowered by the strong current and pulled into the stream. Fortunately, villagers nearby acted quickly and managed to pull them out — just moments before they could be dragged over what appeared to be a steep drop.

Meanwhile, the fifth woman was successfully rescued from another side of the waterfall. The sixth woman, however, remained stuck in the middle of the forceful water flow for several tense minutes before she too was finally rescued by locals. Eyewitnesses recalled the sheer panic of the moment, watching helplessly as the water rose rapidly and swept around the stranded women.

According to those present at the site, the weather was calm and normal before the incident. The sudden surge of water from the hills took everyone by surprise, forcing tourists and locals alike to flee the area. Villagers noted that they had never witnessed such an intense water flow at the Languriya waterfall before.

The video has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many expressing concern over visiting natural water bodies during the monsoon. One user warned, “During monsoon people should avoid waterfalls,” while another posted, “Jab roz barish ho rahi hai to kue ja rahe. Pahari nadi ko majak na samjhe.”

Another user emphasized the need for heightened awareness, saying, “Khaaskar monsoon ke dauran, paani ka star achanak bad sakta hai, isiliye savdhani barte.”

What began as a joyful outing nearly turned into a devastating tragedy — a stark reminder that nature, though beautiful, can be dangerously unpredictable. The quick response of the villagers likely saved lives that day. As monsoon rains continue across the region, authorities and netizens alike are urging people to be cautious around water bodies. Sometimes, a moment of thrill can turn into a lifetime of regret — and as this incident shows, being aware and alert can make all the difference.
